﴿ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ ﴾
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created,
﴿ خَلَقَ الْإِنْسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ ﴾
Created man from an embryo;
﴿ اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ ﴾
Read, for your Lord is most beneficent,
﴿ الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ ﴾
Who taught by the pen,
﴿ عَلَّمَ الْإِنْسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ ﴾
Taught man what he did not know.
﴿ كَلَّا إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ لَيَطْغَىٰ ﴾
And yet, but yet man is rebellious,
﴿ أَنْ رَآهُ اسْتَغْنَىٰ ﴾
For he thinks he is sufficient in himself.
﴿ إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعَىٰ ﴾
Surely your returning is to your Lord.
﴿ أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يَنْهَىٰ ﴾
Have you seen him who restrains
﴿ عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰ ﴾
A votary when he turns to his devotions?
﴿ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَىٰ ﴾
Have you thought, if he had been on guidance
﴿ أَوْ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوَىٰ ﴾
Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)?
﴿ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ﴾
Have you thought that if he denies and turns away,
﴿ أَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَىٰ ﴾
Does he not know that God sees?
﴿ كَلَّا لَئِنْ لَمْ يَنْتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ ﴾
And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock,
﴿ نَاصِيَةٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ ﴾
By the lying, the sinful forelock.
﴿ فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُ ﴾
So let him call his associates,
﴿ سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ ﴾
We shall call the guards of Hell.
﴿ كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِبْ ۩ ﴾
Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord).
﴿ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ ﴾
你應當奉你的創造主的名義而宣讀，
﴿ خَلَقَ الْإِنْسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ ﴾
他曾用血塊創造人。
﴿ اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ ﴾
你應當宣讀，你的主是最尊嚴的，
﴿ الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ ﴾
他曾教人用筆寫字，
﴿ عَلَّمَ الْإِنْسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ ﴾
他曾教人知道自己所不知道的東西。
﴿ كَلَّا إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ لَيَطْغَىٰ ﴾
絕不然，人確是悖逆的，
﴿ أَنْ رَآهُ اسْتَغْنَىٰ ﴾
因為他自己是無求的。
﴿ إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعَىٰ ﴾
萬物必定只歸於你的主。
﴿ أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يَنْهَىٰ ﴾
你告訴我吧！
﴿ عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰ ﴾
那虒T止我的僕人禮拜的人；
﴿ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَىٰ ﴾
你告訴我吧！如果他是遵循正道的，
﴿ أَوْ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوَىٰ ﴾
或是命人敬畏的；
﴿ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ﴾
你告訴我吧！如果他是否認真理，I棄真理的，
﴿ أَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَىٰ ﴾
難道他還不知道真主是監察的嗎
﴿ كَلَّا لَئِنْ لَمْ يَنْتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ ﴾
絕不然，如果他不停止，我一定n抓住他的額髮——
﴿ نَاصِيَةٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ ﴾
說謊者，犯罪者的額髮。
﴿ فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُ ﴾
讓他去召集他的會眾吧！
﴿ سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ ﴾
我將召集強悍的天神。
﴿ كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِبْ ۩ ﴾
絕不然，你不n順從他，你應當為真主而叩頭，你應當親近真主。
